How to Deal with Pyorrhea?

Patient has visited us with the chief complaint of multiple upper and lower loose teeth. Patient wants to replace his teeth to improve his chewing function as he was not able to chew food properly. On examination patient was suffering from pyorrhea since longer time. All the teeth were mobile with severe gums recession. Lower bridge was too old and had become loose, supporting teeth were also affected by gum disease.

Possible treatments like removable complete denture, implant supported over denture and implant supported fixed denture with all possible advantages and disadvantages were explained to the patient.

Patient wanted to have fixed teeth so was advised for a CBCT report to plan implant surgery.

Favorable amount of bone was available in the upper and lower jaw so opted for implant supported fixed denture. Premedication prescribed to patient and upper implant placement is done under local anesthesia.

During the surgery we got excellent torque (strength of implant inside bone) so the patient was given temporary fixed teeth right away! After completion of proper healing final measurement was taken with necessary steps and sent it to the lab for fabrication of final teeth set.

Patient was happy with his new teeth. He can enjoy his food with fixed teeth which boosts his confidence. Happy and satisfied, the patient came back after 5 years to replace his lower teeth.
