Patient Profile:
A 60-year-old male patient presented with the inability to chew properly and loss of confidence in smiling due to the absence of his upper teeth. He expressed a strong desire to restore his function and appearance with dental implants.

Clinical Findings & Discussion:
On examination, the upper arch was completely edentulous, while the lower teeth were present. The patient was advised to undergo a 3D CBCT scan of the maxilla to evaluate bone quality and volume before planning implant surgery.
The CBCT scan revealed insufficient bone in the posterior maxilla, making conventional implant placement difficult. Hence, a comprehensive treatment plan was formulated:

- Placement of 2 pterygoid implants (one on each side) to compensate for posterior bone deficiency
- Placement of 5 regular implants in the anterior region for optimal support
Treatment Plan & Procedure:
- Under local anesthesia, a total of 7 implants were successfully placed (2 pterygoid + 5 anterior).
- A healing period of 3 months was recommended to allow for osseointegration.
- Since the patient requested interim teeth for aesthetics and function, a temporary hybrid denture was delivered and supported on 4 implants.
Definitive Prosthetic Phase:
The patient regained full chewing efficiency and a natural smile. He expressed high satisfaction with the comfort, stability, and esthetics of the implant-supported prosthesis, which dramatically improved his quality of life.
