Restoring a Smile: Case of the Month – Dental Transformation
One young female patient visited us with a complaint of missing upper front teeth and one broken tooth. She wanted to restore the missing teeth to improve her smile and regain proper dental function.
On clinical examination, one tooth was found to be missing, and one tooth was broken. The patient was advised to undergo root canal treatment for the broken tooth and was given the option of a dental bridge (PFM or ZIRCONIA). She opted for a PFM bridge as she preferred a more cost-effective option. We performed root canal treatment on the broken tooth, as it was infected. Calcium hydroxide dressing was placed for a period of time until the infection subsided. During this period of time, the patient was provided with a temporary bridge for aesthetic purposes. Once the infection had completely subsided, the patient was scheduled for tooth preparation & impression taking. The final PFM bridge was fabricated and cemented using luting cement under proper saliva isolation.
The Patient was satisfied and happy with her new smile.
