The sedative induces a state of deep relaxation and a feeling of not being bothered with what is going on. Is Sedation Dentistry safe?

Yes, it is a very safe treatment. Medical equipment are used to monitor patient’s blood pressure, pulse, oxygen saturation and respiratory rates to ensure that the patient is completely comfortable and reacting normally throughout the procedure. But make sure that you are appointing professional and experienced doctor.

Types of Sedation dentistry

Types of crowns vary depending upon the material used in their fabrication.

1. Nitrous Sedation

it is a laughing gas, used to induce a state of relaxation. It acts as both an anaesthetic and as a way to reduce your anxiety in the dental chair. Nitrous oxide, combined with oxygen, is inhaled right before your dental treatment.

2. Oral Sedation

You’ll be given a pill before starting a dental work. Pills work as a sedatives.

3. IV (Intravenous) Sedation

Sedative is administered intravenously.

Level of Sedation-

Minimal sedation — you are awake but relaxed.
Moderate sedation (formerly called “conscious sedation”) you may slur your words when speaking and not remember much of the procedure.
Deep sedation — you are on the edge of consciousness but can still be awakened.
