1. CT scanning
Presurgical workup involves a CT scan and 3D imaging that provides important information about the quantity and quality of available jaw bone. After thorough evaluation of the 3D data, implant treatment plan is prepared.
2. Software based Implant planning and virtual implant surgery
Cone-beam CT produces images in DICOM format, and an implant planning software reads these
DICOM files and reconstructs them in two-dimensional or three-dimensional images. This software allows the clinician to actually perform the virtual surgery keeping all the surgical principles in mind and hence provides tremendous accuracy during treatment planning.
3. Fabrication of Surgical Template/Guide and surgical placement utilizing the guide
Surgical template is an equipment that holds the surgical planning information. In general, it is in the shape of a dental tray or splint and worn by the patient during surgery.
This ensures that the actual implant placement exactly follows the placement done virtually hence maintaining highest standard of accuracy and precision during the placement.
